Having returned to racing in typically competitive form this time in, classy Macedon Lodge runner Massiyn has opened as and firmed in favouritism in Sandown Cup betting markets; cutting from opening odds of $3.40 to currently rest at a quote of $3.20 for success with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

Claiming two wins and a further five minor places from his 15 competitive appearances at the races so far, Massiyn was unable to make much of an impact over a short campaign over autumn, but has quickly found form this time in.

Running a credible sixth amongst classy competition in the Caulfield RSL Welfare Plate (1700m) first-up, the Zamindar entire finished off the pace of stable mate Fawkner in the Group 1 Caulfield Stakes (2000m) on October 11th, but responded well in finishing fourth in the City Jeep Handicap (2040m) and second in the Listed Bendigo Cup (2400m) last time out.

Allocated the ideal inside barrier, Massiyn has been confirmed to be partnered by Nick Hall in the 2014 Sandown Cup and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current odds.

The sole entrant of the powerful OTI Racing Syndicate in the 2014 Sandown Cup, Renew is yet to receive much more than a sprinkling of bets for success this weekend but has maintained status as sole occupant of the second line of betting at $4.20 odds.

Securing three wins and a further five minor places from his 16 starts to date, Renew finished sixth in the Listed August Stakes (2336m) in Britain first-up this time in before more than stamping his claims for a trip to Australian when placing third in the Conditions Stakes (2835m).

Unable to figure in either of the Group 2 Herbert Power Stakes (2400m) or Group 1 Caulfield Cup (2400m) in his first two Australian starts, the Dansili gelding finds the Sandown Cup in competitive form after running a close second to Grand Marshall in the Visit Victoria Plate (2800m) last time out on Melbourne Cup Day.

Also yet to receive much attention in Sandown Cup betting markets, Like A Carousel has found competitive form leading into this weekend’s race card and arguably offers punters the best value for money at generous $5.50 odds for success.

Running fifth in the Jeep Don’t Hold Back BM84 (2040m) first-up on September 6th, the Helike gelding won the Listed Harry White Classic (2400m) on September 27th before placing third in the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) and sixth in the Group 3 Lexus Stakes (2500m) on Derby Day.
