Almoonqith will have his second-consecutive run over the distance having contested last week’s Melbourne Cup, and remains outright $4.60 favourite in Sandown Cup betting markets at Ladbrokes.com.au ahead of De Little Engine ($5) and The Offer ($5.50).

Will Almoonqith justify favouritism and win the 2015 Sandown Cup or will one of his talented rivals find the line in the clear?

The Offer ($5.50)

A Group 1 winner over the distance, The Offer ran a pleasing eighth in the Melbourne Cup last start and will be very hard to beat in the 2015 Sandown Cup. Posting eight wins and a further five minors through 28 career starts so far, the talented son of Montjeu has already secured a number of impressive results this time; beginning with a dominant win in the Listed Rowley Mile (1600m) as topweight on August 20th and including a fourth place finish in the Listed Tattersall’s Club Cup (2400m) and success in the Group 3 Bendigo Cup (2400m) leading into the race that stops a nation. Dwayne Dunn takes the ride on the six-year-old, who will leave from barrier 9.

De Little Engine ($5)

De Little Engine carries excellent staying form into the 2015 Sandown Cup, defeated a number of his confirmed rivals in his most recent start and appears as though he will relish a step-up to 3200m on Saturday. Returning this time for sixth in the talent-rich Spring Is The Season Handicap (1700m) on September 17th, the Encosta De Lago gelding ran mid-pack in each of the Group The Bart Cummings (2520m) and Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m) before winning the JB Cummings Tribute BM96 (2800m) on Melbourne Cup day. Weighted well at only 54kgs, James Winks has picked up the ride on the gelding in the Sandown Cup.

Precedence ($51)

Popular Bart and James Cummings-trained veteran Precedence will have his final career start in the 2015 Sandown Cup, is a proven performer over two miles and offers incredible value for money at current $51 for success or $12.10 to finish in the first three. While yet to register peak condition through four starts this time, the Zabeel gelding should relish a return to long distance and is positioned well for a big run in barrier 3 with Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne aboard.
